Choosing an Engagement Ring
An engagement ring is worn every day for decades. These are the decisions that matter, in the order we suggest making them.
The Stone
Start here, because the stone sets the character of the ring. The House works with Australian Parti sapphires and natural diamonds. A Parti sapphire shows two or more colours in the one stone and no two are alike, so the ring made around it cannot be repeated. Sapphire is rated 9 on the Mohs scale, where diamond is 10, and both are suited to daily wear.
The Metal
Our engagement rings are made in solid gold, yellow or white. We do not plate, which means the ring can be polished and reworked for as long as you own it.
The Setting
A bezel holds the stone within a rim of gold and protects its edges. A semi-bezel opens the sides to let in more light. Claws show the most stone and should be checked every six months, which we do at no charge.
The Size
We use Australian and UK letter sizing. If the ring is a surprise, borrow a ring worn on the same finger and use our ring size guide. Sizes available vary by design.
The Timing
Each ring is made to order in our Sydney studio. Allow 4 to 8 weeks, and longer for a bespoke commission. If there is a date in mind, work back from it.
See It in Person
